Bathroom and separate toilet combined

This terraced house dated 1930’s. Usually, toilet and bathroom are separate. We combined it and gave a really modern look.

About this project

In this 1930s terraced house in Wanstead E11 the toilet and the bathroom were separate small rooms, as was usual for houses of that period. We combined them into one bathroom.

The room was stripped back to the brick, the walls were re-boarded with moisture-resistant board and the ceiling was insulated on a metal frame. Electric underfloor heating went under large-format floor tiles, and the wall above the bath has a band of blue mosaic.

Scope of work

  • Separate toilet and bathroom combined into one room
  • Strip-out back to brick
  • Moisture-resistant boarding and insulated ceiling
  • Electric underfloor heating
  • Wall and floor tiling with a mosaic band
