Canary Wharf Builders: Flat Refurbishment, Kitchens and Bathrooms

Canary Wharf, the Isle of Dogs and Poplar make up E14 in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, about four and a half miles by road from our office in Leytonstone E11. Most homes here are flats, and our work in E14 has been flat refurbishment, kitchens and bathrooms.

We cover: Canary Wharf Isle of Dogs Poplar Millwall Cubitt Town Limehouse Blackwall

Our E14 projects

In Canary Wharf we refurbished a two-bedroom flat whose bathroom and shower room hid mould and water damage behind the tiles, so both rooms were taken back to the structure and rebuilt. On the Isle of Dogs we refurbished another two-bedroom flat with a new open-plan kitchen, a shower room and a bathroom, and in Poplar we fitted a new kitchen with pocket doors built into the stud walls.

Working in E14 flats

Most E14 homes are flats in managed blocks, so works usually need the consent of the freeholder or managing agent under the lease, and blocks often set working hours, lift bookings and parking rules for contractors. Householder permitted development rights do not apply to flats, so external alterations may need planning permission, and we check the proposed works and any other permissions needed.

Conservation areas on the Isle of Dogs and in Poplar

Tower Hamlets has 58 conservation areas. On the Isle of Dogs and in Poplar they include Coldharbour, Chapel House, Island Gardens, West India Dock, All Saints Poplar, Lansbury and Balfron Tower.

Tower Hamlets planning and building control

Planning applications in E14 go to Tower Hamlets Council. Internal works to a flat usually need no planning permission, but bathrooms, kitchens and electrical work still have to meet the building regulations, and the certificates are handed over at the end.

Kitchen and bathroom refurbishment in Canary Wharf flats

See the Canary Wharf flat, the Isle of Dogs flat and the Poplar kitchen for photos of the work, and our kitchen and bathroom page for what a refit includes. Bethnal Green is the other part of Tower Hamlets we cover.
